About Us

Learning Together, Apart

Breck Gordon ESL offers free and low-cost, online ESL classes and tutoring for adult immigrants and refugees. Each week, students will take 8+ hours of online English language classes that will empower them with the tools they need to achieve their goals in the United States. My intention is to keep classes free for as many students as possible. Please consider donating to Breck Gordon ESL to sponsor a student and change a life!

“The teacher is of course an artist, but being an artist does not mean that he or she can make the profile, can shape the students. What the educator does in teaching is to make it possible for the students to become themselves.”

Volunteer with Breck Gordon ESL

Want to get involved?

I started teaching ESL as a volunteer, and it changed the course of my entire life. Right now, I am unable to hire anyone, but as my program grows, I can bring on more staff. In the meantime, if you’d like to volunteer, please review the opportunities below.

Assistant Teacher

Volunteer as an assistant teacher in our classes! See how online learning works, meet our students, and get valuable experience!

Conversation Partner Program

I will match you with a student who wants to practice speaking English and will send you questions that can help you guide the conversation. No experience required! It’s literally just talking – it helps students gain confidence and get valuable communication practice.

Pen Pal Program

I will match you with a student who wants to work on their writing skills. I will send you prompts that you can use in your emails. No experience required! It gives students an opportunity to practice their written communication skills.
